Vicksburg- 6            WC- 2

Vicksburg scored 5 runs in the first.  Jordan Henry walked to lead off the game.  Coleman then hit a ground ball to White at first base who made a throw to second.  Henry was called safe at second base to put runners at first and second with nobody out.  Carson struck out Price to get the first out of the inning.  Vernon Wolfe then doubled to left to make the score 1-0 and put runners at  2nd and 3rd.  Coleman scored on a passed ball and Wolfe moved to 3rd.  Wells walked and stole second to put runners at 2nd and 3rd.  Nick Carson struck out Judd Mims for the second out and Stanton Price then delivered a 3 run homerun to make the score 5-0.
     Vicksburg scored a run in the second to make the score 6-0.  Warren Central scratched for 2 runs in the 4th.  Eric Douglas walked with 2 outs.  Josh Gordon then singled and Ben Koestler doubled off the left field wall to plate Douglas and Gordon to make the score 6-2.

Vicksburg- 2            WC- 8

     Vicksburg went up on Warren Central in the top of the  first after Steven Price singled to lead off the game.  Jordan Henry laid down a bunt for a hit and Price was moving on the pitch to put runners on 1st and 3rd.  Price scored on a passed ball and Henry moved to second.  Henry moved to 3rd on a ground ball by Wolfe and scored on a ground ball by Mims to make the score 2-0 Vicksburg.
     WC answered in the bottom of the 1st.  Nick Carson led off the inning with a single and stole 2nd.  Jonathon Ettinger bunted him to third and he scored on a ground ball by Josh Gordon.
     Vicksburg went one-two-three in the 2nd.  Warren Central scored two runs in the 2nd.  Jeff Ward led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sac bunt by Parker White.  Nick Carson walked with two outs.  Jonathon Ettinger then hit a double to left-center to plate Carson and Ward to put WC ahead 3-2. 
     Warren Central erupted in the 4th.  Nick Carson walked with one out.  Ettinger reached on an error.  Eric Douglas then hit a 3 run homerun to make the score 6-2.  Josh Gordon then singled and Ben Koestler hit a two run homerun to make the score 8-2.
     Eric Douglas allowed two hits and went the distance for Warren Central.

West Ouachita- 2        WC- 1

     WC lost a tough one in the night cap of the double header.  Josh Gordon doubled and moved to third on a passed ball in the 4th and later scored on error by the shortstop to score the only run for the Vikings.

Dutchtown- 1       WC- 2

     Eric Douglas, Nick Carson, Josh Gordon combined to throw a one hitter to beat Dutchtown from Gonzalez.
     Dutchtown scored a run in the first after the lead off reached on an error.  He later scored on a wild pitch.  Ben Koestler led off the 5th inning with a double.  Kyle Calhoun then hit a line drive to the first baseman who then tried to double up Koestler but his throw went to the outfield and Ben moved to third.  Harry Ferguson then hit a sac fly to left to tie the score at 1-1. 
     Josh Gordon hit a double to left in the 7th and moved to third on a ball in the dirt.  Ben Koestler then hit a ground ball to score Gordon and give WC the lead 2-1.  Gordon then sealed the deal in the bottom of the seventh to pick up the win.

Natchez- 0         WC- 10

     The Vikings put together another 10 run rule against Natchez on Tuesday.  WC erupted for 6 runs in the 4th.  Eric Douglas led off the 4th with a homerun, his 4th, to start the scoring.  Ben Koestler then followed him with a double and scored on Calhoun’s double.  Jeff Ward walked and Cody Ferguson reached on an error.  Nick Carson then blasted his 4th homerun of the year.
     WC put up for more runs in the 5th.  Eric Douglas led off the inning with a triple and scored on a ground out by Ben Koestler.  Calhoun and Ward walked and scored on a Harry Ferguson double.  Cody Ferguson then singled to right to score Harry and end the game with a 10 run rule.

Greenville- 0        WC- 14

     Nick Carson pitched a perfect game Friday night and struck out all 15 batters he faced.  Nick also had two hits in the game with a double.  Josh Gordon had two hits, Ben Koestler had two hits, Kyle Calhoun had two hits with two doubles.

Greenville- 0           WC-10

     The Vikings hosted the Hornets Tuesday night in district play.  Greenville came into the game 0-2 in the district and WC was 2-0.  Eric Douglas had the start for the Vikings on the mound. Douglas started his work early striking out the first two batters he faced.  Greenville’s 3 hole hitter then hit a single to right field.  ED then struck out the next batter to get of the inning.
     WC took the lead in the bottom of the first after a Nick Carson walk.  Carson stole 2nd and moved to third on a passed ball.  Jonathon Ettinger then singled to left field to put the Vikings up 1-0.
     Kyle Calhoun led off the 2nd with a ground ball to third base who made an error.  Calhoun then stole second and scored and a Jeff Ward double down the left line to make the score 2-0 WC.   Two batters later Nick Carson hit his 3 homer of the season, second in consecutive days, to make the score 4-0 WC.
     WC scored 4 more runs in the 4th to improve the score 8-0.  Kyle Calhoun led off the bottom of the 5th with a double down the left field line.  Parker White reached on an error.  Jeff Ward walked to load the bases.  Cody Ferguson then hit into a fielders choice and score a run to make the score 9-0.  Nick Carson then hit a bullet to right center to plate Parker and end the game with a 10 run mercy rule.
     Eric Douglas went the distance striking out 13.  He allowed 2 hits.  Douglas faced 17 batters.
     WC travels to Greenville on Friday, March 10.

Natchez-8          WC- 22

Warren Central traveled to Natchez on Saturday in a non-district game.  WC picked up where they left off from Friday night scoring early and often.
     The Vikings scored 5 runs in the first, 3 in the second, 7 in the third and 7 in the fourth.  Matt Traxler picked up his first win of the year.  Nick Carson was a double away from the cycle, his first ever, going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s.  Parker White was 3-3 with 3 singles.  Josh Gordon hit his 4th homerun of the season.  Porter Holliday had a pinch hit single up the middle scoring a runner.

(#2) Madison Central - 4        WC- 5

WC battled MC in game number two at Warren Central on Friday night in a District 3 contest.  Nick Carson started on the mound for WC and Nick Hardy started for MC.  Madison Central scored in the top of the first after Jarrod Parks scored on a single by Akins.
Nick Carson led off the bottom of the first with a single and later scored after a bases loaded walk to tie the score 1-1.  Warren Central took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd after Jonathon Ettinger hit a solo homerun over the left field fence to make the score 2-1.  Madison Central tied the score in the top of the 5th 2-2.  WC answered the call in the bottom of the 5th.  Eric Douglas and Josh Gordon walked and moved to 3rd after Ben Koestler laid down a sac bunt.  Harry Ferguson then had a pinch hit single up the middle to score 2 runs and put the Vikings up 4-2.
Madison Central strung two doubles together to make the score 4-3 in the 6th and later tied it in the seventh 4-4.
Josh Gordon led off the 7th with a single to right field and then was forced out at second base after a bunt by Ben Koestler. Jeff Ward then singled up the middle to put runners at 1st and 2nd.  Parker White hit a ground ball to the first baseman who forced Jeff Ward at second and put runners at 1st and 3rd.  Chris Whittington, who was running for Parker White, stole second to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with two outs.  Sean Elliott stepped into the box with two outs and a runner at 3rd base.  With the count 2-2, Sean ripped a line drive to the wall in left center field to score Ben Koestler and win the game for the Vikings.  The win makes WC 5-3 on the year.

(#2) Madison Central - 3      WC- 5

Warren Central opened district play with the number two team in the state.  The Vikings traveled to Madison Central for another classic showdown between these two clubs.
The Vikings left the bases loaded in the first and went three up and three down in the second.  Nick Carson led off the 3rd with a solo bomb over the left center field fence to put the Vikings ahead 1-0. The homer was Carson’s first on the year. Two batters later Eric Douglas hit his 3rd homer, a screamer into the left field bleachers to make the score 2-0.  Josh Gordon then singled to right, stole second and moved to third on a ground ball by Koestler.  Jeff Ward and Chris Whittington walked to load the bases and Sean Elliott hit a two strike line drive to center field to end the inning.
Eric Douglas led of the 5th with a double and moved to 3rd on a Josh Gordon ground ball.  He later scored on a passed ball to make the score WC-3  MC-0. 
WC put 2 very important runs on the board in the top of the sixth.  Chris Whittington walked to lead off the inning but was forced out at second base on a bunt attempt by Cody Ferguson.  Ferguson stole 2nd a few pitches later and moved to third on a ground ball by Kyle Calhoun.  Nick Carson then walked and stole second to put runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs.  Jonathon Ettinger then stepped to the plate and delivered a two strike, two out double to the right field wall to score Ferguson and Carson to put the Vikings up 5-0. 
Eric Douglas, Warren Central’s starter, took a no-hitter into the 6th.  After 3 doubles and an error Madison answered with 3 runs to make the score 5-3.  Douglas picked a runner off of 1st base to get out of the inning.  WC went quietly in the 7th and Nick Carson came in to pick up the save by getting Jarrod Parks to fly out with a runner on first.
The win put WC 1-0 in district play.

(#3) Olive Branch-  4          WC- 3

Warren Central had a another barn-burner in the night cap of the Mid-Mississippi Classic.  Olive Branch  scored 1 run in the bottom of the first to make the score 1-0.  Warren Central scored two runs in the top of the 2nd.  Josh Gordon led off the 2nd with a two strike home-run to make the score 2-1.  Jonathon Ettinger singled in the six hole and moved to second on a throwing error.  Sean Elliott then singled up the middle to score Ettinger and tie the score at 2.
Josh Gordon was intentionally walked with 2 outs and nobody on base and later scored on an error by the 3rd baseman to break the tie and make the score 3-2.  OB  then tied it with a homerun in the bottom of the 5th to make the score 3-3.  Warren Central loaded the bases in the top of the 7th and Jonathon Ettinger hit a sharp line drive to right field to end the inning.
Olive Branch scored a run in the bottom of the 7th to escape with a win 4-3.
Josh Gordon ended the day 5-5, with 2 singles and 3 HR’s.  He also pitched 2 2/3 innings and had faced 10 batters, striking out 6.  Unfortunately, he took the loss.

Warren Central scored early again in the second game of the Mid-Mississippi Classic against McComb.  Eric Douglas hit a solo homerun over the left field fence to make the score 1-0.
McComb answered with 3 runs in the top of the second to make the score 3-1.  WC put a run on the board in the bottom of the 3rd.  Ben Koestler drew a walk with one out.  Sean Elliott, who was running for Koestler, stole second and scored on a Josh Gordon single to make the score 3-2.
McComb went back-to-back to make the score 5-2 in the top of the 5th.  Warren Central scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the 5th after a single from Eric Douglas and two run homeruns from Josh Gordon to make the score 5-4.
Jonathon Ettinger led off the 6th with a single and was bunted over to second by Cody Ferguson.  Jonathan Longmire then knocked  him in to tie the score at 5 apiece.  After back-to-back doubles, McComb took the lead in the 7th, 6-5.
Josh Gordon then hit his 2nd homerun of the game to tie the score 6-6.  Jonathon Ettinger was walked two batters later and stole second base.  Cody Ferguson then hit a single up the middle to plate Ettinger and win the game 7-6.

Clinton- 8         WC- 3

Warren Central started the Mid-Mississippi Classic with the Arrows from Clinton at Pearl High School.  WC got off to a quick start, scoring a run in the top of the first.
Ben Koestler reached on an error by the shortstop and Sean Elliott, who was running for Koestler, scored on a single by Josh Gordon to make the score 1-0.  Warren Central scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the second.  Jonathon Ettinger reached on a bunt single to start the inning.  Chris Whittington walked two batters later.  Kyle Calhoun then singled to right to score both runners and make the score 3-0 WC.
Clinton scored two runs in the bottom of the 4th and two more in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 4-3 Clinton.
WC couldn’t get another run to cross the plate and Clinton added 4 runs in the seventh to make the final 8-3.

West Ouachita- 6        WC- 10

The defending 4A Louisiana State Champs opened at Warren Central on Tuesday night under semi-wet conditions.  It didn’t take them long at all to put a run on the board.  LSU signee Johnson reached on an error to start the game and later scored on a double by Anderson.  The Chiefs loaded the bases but WC’s starter Josh Gordon worked out of it after getting a strike out and two ground balls to Eric Douglas at third.
     West Ouachita scored another run in the fourth after a solo HR by Giovingo to make the score 2-0.  WC answered in the bottom of the fourth with 8 runs.  Ben Koestler started the inning off with a double to the right-center field gap.  Eric Douglas then reached first after being hit by a pitch.  Josh Gordon then singled to score Koestler.  Ward and Ettinger were both hit by pitches scoring Douglas.  Cody Ferguson then singled to right to score Josh Gordon.  Kyle Calhoun then singled to left to score Jeff Ward.  Ben Koestler then reached on an error to score Cody Ferguson.  Eric Douglas then hit a line drive to the right-center field gap to clear the bases and make the score 8-2. 
     West Ouachita scored 3 more runs in the 5th and one more in the 6th to make the score 8-6.  WC scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th.  Sean Elliott reached on an error and moved to second on a single by Nick Carson.  Ben Koestler then doubled to center for 2 RBI’s.  Nick Carson closed the door in the 7th for a save.

Neshoba Central- 2    WC- 5

     After a tough loss in the first game of the double header, Warren Central faced another ranked opponent in #13 Neshoba Central.  The Vikings started the scoring early.  After 3 walks in the top of the first, Jonathon Ettinger singled to right to plate Ben Koestler and Eric Douglas.
     With one out in the top of the third, Josh Gordon laced a single to left and then stole 2nd.  Jeff Ward then doubled to the right-center field gap to score Gordon and make the score 3-0. Jeff Ward singled in the top of the sixth and was moved to third after Ettinger’s second single of the game.  Kyle Calhoun was hit with the next pitch to load the bases for Cody Ferguson who reached on a fielder’s choice and scored Ward to make the score 4-0.  Neshoba Central scored a run in the 6th after a couple of hits and an error.  WC scored their last run in the top of the 7th after a solo homerun from Eric Douglas over the left-field fence.
     In the bottom of the 7th Neshoba started to wake up. Cognlon hit a one out homerun to make the score 5-2. Kilpatrick drew a walk to bring Jeff Ward into the game to try and close the door.  Ward hit the lead-off hitter to put runners at first and second.  Ward then struck out the number two and number three hitters to pick up the save. The win moved the Vikings record to 1-1.  Nick Carson picked up his first win of the year on the mound going 6 innings, striking out 6.

Louisville-10 WC-3

Warren Central traveled to 10th ranked Louisville for their opener of the 2006 campaign to face Louisville and Neshoba Central.WC opened with Louisville and faced a Delta State signee on the mound.  The Vikings countered with Eric Douglas.
Louisville started the scoring first with 2 runs in the first after a couple of outfield errors and a double by Higginbottom.  WC answered with a run in the second.  Jonathon Ettinger reached on a walk and stole second base. Kyle Calhoun then drove a base hit to right to score Ettinger.
Warren Central tied the game in the fourth after a Calhoun doubled with one out.  Nick Carson then doubled down the right field line to make the score 2-2.  Louisville answered in the bottom half of the fourth to make the score 3-2. Louisville tacked on 2 more the 5th to make the score 5-2.  Warren Central cut into the lead in the sixth after Ben Koestler knocked in Sean Elliott who had walked.
Louisville blew it open in the bottom of the 6th with 5 more runs to make the score 10-3.
