WC vs Tupelo WC-5 Tupelo-7
Warren Central scored early but it wasn't enough as the Golden Wave
put the Vikings out of the playoffs. Tupelo scored all 7 runs in the
second to hang on and advance. Joey Lieberman had a 3 run homerun and
Jeff Mitchell had 2 doubles for the Vikings. Warren Central won its'
5th straight district title this year and made it to the second round
of the playoffs.
4/27 WC vs Tupelo WC-12 Tupelo-2
Warren Central bounced back Saturday at Tupelo to tie the series 1-1.
Warren Central pounded 15 hits in five innings to send it to game 3.
Chris Hite led off the game with a double. John Morgan moved him to
3rd on a ground out. Pettway was walked and Lieberman delivered a double
in the right center field gap to plate Hite and Pettway. Carl Upton
then doubled in Lieberman to make the score 3-0. Tupelo answered with
two runs in the bottom half. In the second, Joey Lieberman hit his second
double to plate Hite and Mims to make it 5-2. In the 3rd, Corbin singled
and stole second then scored on Simmons' second single of the night
to make it 6-2. In the 4th, Pettway led off the inning with a BB. Joey
Lieberman then blasted a HR over the scoreboard for his 5th and 6th
RBI of the night to make it 8-2. Upton then doubled, Corbin singled
him home and moved up to second on the throw to the plate. Jeremy Ferguson
then singled in Corbin for a 10-2 lead. In the fifth, Corbin doubled
in Pettway, who had a single, and Lieberman, who was hit by a pitch
to make the score 12-2. Andrew Simmons pitched 5 innings, allowing 5
hits to pick up his 7th win of the season against 0 losses.

WC vs Tupelo WC-1 Tupelo-6
Sparky Smith gave up 1 run on 6 hits as the Golden Wave defeated the
Vikings 6-1 Friday night. Chris Hite reached on an error in the 5th
and scored on John Morgan Mims' double for the only run. Carl Upton
had two hits on the evening. Joey Lieberman had a double. Carl Upton
suffered the loss for the Vikings.
4/20 WC vs Northwest GAME 3 WC-7 NWR-2
Andrew Simmons
pitched a complete game and threw 6 2/3 of shutout baseball. Brian Pettway
hit his first of two HR's in the first to make it 1-0. Joey Lieberman
then doubled and Carl Upton doubled to make the score 2-0 in the first.
Brian Pettway hit his 2nd HR of the game, 16th of the season in the
3rd to make it 3-0. In the 4th John Morgan Mims hit a grand slam to
make it 7-0. In the top of the seventh, pinch hitter Joe Scalzo hit
a two run HR to make it 7-2. WC advances to round 2.

WC vs. NWR - WC 5 NWR 6
WC lost a heartbreaker Friday night as NWR won in the bottom of the
8th of a squeeze bunt. Warren Central scored 3 runs in the first. Chris
Hite and John Morgan Mims walked. Brian Pettway then singled to plate
Hite. Joey Lieberman then singled in Mims. Carl Upton scored Pettway
on a ground out. Pettway had 3 hits. Tom Corbin had 2 hits w/a double.
Jeremy Ferguson had 2 hits w/a RBI.
4/18 WC vs NWR WC-11 NWR-1
WC jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first. They scored 4 in the fourth.
Then Brian Pettway hit his 14th HR. of the season in the 5th to ten-run
the Cougars. Chris Hite had an RBI single. Joey Lieberman had 3 singles
and scored twice. Carl Upton had 2 singles. Jeff Mitchell had a 2b and
2 RBI's. Jeremy Ferguson has 2 hits and 4 RBI's. Carl Upton got the
win.

WC vs. Pearl WC-8 Pearl- 1
Warren Central broke a 2 game losing streak Saturday by defeating
the Pirates 8-1. Brian Pettway got the win going 6 innings. Andrew Simmons
came in relief in the 7th. WC scored 3 in the fifth and 5 in the 7th.
In the 7th, Chris Hite led off the inning w/a HP. Then John Morgan Mims
hit his 6th HR of the season. Brian Pettway hit his 13th of the season
going back-to-back. Joey Lieberman had 2 hits w/a double. Jeff Mitchell
had a 2b. Pettway also had a 2b to go along with the homerun

WC vs Clinton WC- 2 Clinton- 4
The Arrows handed WC its second straight loss and third straight district
loss Friday night. Carl Upton took the loss for the Vikings. The Arrows
scored 4 runs in the 4th. Upton retired the next 7 hitters he faced.
John Morgan Mims hit a solo homerun in the 1st and Mark Different scored
on a Brian Pettway sac fly in the 3rd to finish the scoring for WC.
Tom Corbin had 2 hits and Mark Different had 2 hits.

WC vs Forest Hill- WC-5 Forest Hill-10
The Vikings suffered their 2nd straight district loss as the Rebels
from Forest Hill pounded 12 hits and scored 10 runs. Jeremy Ferguson
took the loss for WC. Tom Corbin had 2 hits w/a 2B and Ferguson had
a 2b.

WC vs Brandon- WC-10 Brandon-9
Warren Central had to come from 2 runs down in the 5th to beat the Bulldogs
from Brandon on Saturday. Stephen McDevitt got the start and went 4
innings striking out four and only walking one. Mark Different came
in relief of McDevitt. Chris Hite had 3 hits. Joey Lieberman had 2 hits
w/a double. Carl Upton had 2 hits w/a double and 2 RBI's. Jeff Mitchell
had a double and Brian Pettway hit his 12th Hr. of the season.

WC vs Vicksburg- WC-4 Vicksburg-5
Two nights after winning their 5th straight district title, the Vikings
suffered their 5th loss of the season at the hands of the Gators.The
Gators jumped on the board first in the top of the first when John Rohrer
knocked in lead-off man Justin Henry to make the score 1-0. The Vikings
answered back in the bottom of the 3rd. Brian Pettway doubled to left,
Joey Lieberman reached on an error, and Upton knocked them both in with
his 2nd homerun of the season to make the score 3-1. The Gators scored
two more times in the 5th to nod the game at 3. The game stayed tied
until the top of the 8th. The Gators scored 2 runs off 1 hit to go ahead
5-3. Tom Corbin lead off the bottom of the inning with a homerun to
left to make the score 5-4. Vicksburg pitcher Chris Middleton retired
the next three Viking hitters in order to secure the Gator victory.

WC vs Clinton- WC-8 Clinton-7
The Vikings and Arrows gave the fans a show Tuesday night at Viking
Field. Clinton scored 3 in the first off starter Andrew Simmons. Lieberman
hit a solo shot in the 2nd to make the score 3-1. In the 3rd, Hite and
Pettway both reached on errors then Lieberman followed with his second
Homerun of the night into the bus barn parking lot to make it 4-3 WC.
Clinton scored 2 in the 4th. WC answered with 2 in the 5th to tie it
at 6 apiece. The scored stayed tied at 6 until the top of the ninth
when Clinton went ahead 7-6 on the only WC error of the evening. In
the bottom of the 9th, Corbin led off the inning by getting hit by a
pitch. Next batter Jeremy Ferguson hit a double off the left center
field wall. The throw from the outfield went to the plate trying to
get Corbin but he made it safely tying the game 7-7. Ferguson was headed
to 3rd when the catcher tried to throw him out but the ball bounced
into left field to score Ferguson and end the game.

WC vs Hattiesburg- WC-5 Hattiesburg-4
WC improved to 19-4 after defeating Hattiesburg Friday night. The Tigers
scored 4 runs in the 3rd off starter Andrew Simmons. Simmons held them
in check for 2 more innings before handing it over to Pettway. In the
5th, Upton led off the inning with a double. Jeff Mitchell doubled 2
outs later putting runners on 2nd and 3rd. Simmons singled to score
Upton and Mitchell. In the 6th, Pettway led off the inning with a double.
Lieberman was hit by the pich putting runners on 1st and 2nd with no
outs. Upton singled knocking in Pettway to make the score 4-3 and putting
runners @ 1st and 3rd. Lieberman scored on a bad throw from 2nd base
after a steal attempt tying the sore at 4. Jeff Mitchell then singled
to left scoring the go ahead and final run

WC vs Forest Hill- WC-8 Forest Hill-0
Carl Upton gave up 3 hits through 6 innings of work to help the Vikings
go 5-0 in district play. Upton also had 3 hits on the night. Brian Pettway
put the Vikings up a run in the first with his 11th homerun of the year.
Jeff Mitchell blew things open for the Vikings in the 3rd. With the
bases loaded, Mitchell launched a 2-2 pitch over the scoreboard to put
the Vikings ahead 6-0. Jeremy Ferguson had a RBI single and Pettway
doubled in John Morgan Mims to make it 8-0. Warren Central will play
Hattiesburg at home on Friday at 12:00 and 2:00.

WC vs Natchez- WC-9 Natchez-8
Steven McDevitt picked up his second win of the season as the Vikings
held on against a scrappy bunch from Natchez Saturday. Chris Hite had
2 singles and scored twice. John Morgan Mims had 3 singles and scored
three times. Jeremy Ferguson had a double, single and a sac fly. Jeff
Mitchell had a 2 run homerun in the third. Joey Lieberman had 2 sac
fly's. Zach Balthrop picked up his first save.

WC vs Vicksburg WC- 7 Vicksburg- 1
Andrew Simmons allowed one run in the first then settled in for six
innings to pick up his fifth win of the season. John Morgan Mims had
two hits. Brian Pettway had two hits. Joey Lieberman had a triple and
a RBI. Tom Corbin had two hits. Jeremy Ferguson had two hits, including
a solo homerun. Jeff Mitchell had two hits with a double and 2 RBI's.
The win moved the Vikings to 4-0 in district play. Brian Pettway came
on in the seventh inning to close the door on the Gators.

WC vs Clinton WC-13 Clinton-6
Warren Central hit 5 homeruns as they defeated the Arrows from Clinton
13-6. Brian Pettway hit his 9th dinger of the season in the first inning.
Chris Hite hit his first of the season in the 3rd. John Morgan Mims
went 3-5 with 2 homeruns and a double, 6 RBI's. Brian Pettway was 4-4
with 2 HR's and 2 singles. Joey Lieberman had a double, Jeremy Ferguson
had a double. Carl Upton picked up his 5th win of the season.
3/16-
WC vs Ouachita, LA
WC continued to hit as the Vikings had 16 hits in the night cap, but
only scored 5 runs to defeat Ouachita. Hite had 3 hits, one being a
double. Brian Pettway had 3 hits and a RBI. Joey Lieberman had 2 hits.
Carl Upton had 3 hits with a RBI double. John Rice Pettway had a double
and a single. Jeff Mitchell doubled and Mark Different had a RBI. Zach
Balthrop picked up his 1st varsity win going 5 innings and scattering
7 hits with only giving up 3 runs.
3/16-
WC vs Evangel Christian, LA
WC pounded 15 hits and scored 14 runs to defeat Evangel Christian 14-7.
Chris Hite had 2 RBI's. Carl Upton had 3 hits, 2 doubles and 3 RBI's.
Tom Corbin had 3 hits, a 2B and a 2 run homerun. John Rice Pettway had
a RBI single. Jeff Mitchell had 2 doubles. Mark Different had 3 hits.
Greg Carroll picked up his 1st varsity win.
3/15-
WC vs West Monroe, LA
The Vikings bounced back to defeat the #7 ranked 5A team in Louisiana
2-0. Brian Pettway hit his 5th HR in 5 games in the 1st inning to
put WC up 1-0. In the 3rd, Chris Hite singled and John Morgan Mims
doubled off the left center field wall to score Hite to put WC up
2-0. The game was called in the 6th due to thunderstorms. Upton picked
up the win, allowing only 1 hit after 5 innings. Upton improved his
record to 4-2.
3/14-
WC vs Neville, LA
Neville, ranked #2 in 4A in the state of Louisiana, pounded
15 hits for 19 runsas they dropped WC 19-8. The Vikings put up 6 runs
in the bottom of the 5th to make it respectable. Chris Hite had 2
hits, one for a double. Mims, Upton, and Different had doubles. Brian
Pettway and Joey Lieberman each added homeruns. Pettway also had a
double. Tom Corbin had a double and a single.
3/13-
WC vs Olive Branch Andrew Simmons picked up his 4th win of
the season as the Vikings defeated Olive Branch 6-3. Brian Pettway homered
in the 4th. Joey Lieberman had a double and a single with a RBI. Carl
Upton was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and a RBI. Jeff Mitchell doubled also
for the Vikings. John Morgan Mims picked up the save.
3/11-WC
vs Bolton, TN
WC suffered its second straight loss as they fell to the number
7th ranked team out of Tennessee by the score of 6-2. Brian Pettway
and Joey Lieberman each hit solo homeruns. Carl Upton had a double.
Upton suffered his second loss of the season.
3/9-
WC vs Terry- Projected Starter- Steven McDevitt
WC suffered
its second loss of the season as Terry beat the Vikings 9-4. Pettway
led all hitters with two hits. Brian had a triple in the first and a
2 run shot in the 5th. Lieberman doubled in the 5th before Pettway's
bomb. John Rice Pettway had a run scoring double.
3/8-
WC vs Forest Hill 4:00 and 6:00 Projected Starter- Andrew Simmons
Warren
Central belted 15 hits as they defeated Forest Hill 14-7. Joey Lieberman
led the offensive attack with a triple and 2 1B's and 3 RBI's. Brian
Pettway had 3 singles, 4 runs scored. Carl Upton added a three run bomb
in the 7th. Jeff Mitchell had a 2B and single with 1 RBI. John Morgan
Mims had 2 hits with a RBI. Andrew Simmons picked up his 3rd win of
the year. Simmons went 6 innings, striking out 7 and did not allow a
walk.

Vicksburg
Projected Starter Carl Upton
Carl Upton scattered 4 hits and allowed 2 unearned runs as the Vikings
defeat cross town rival Vicksburg 6-2 on Tuesday. WC scored 6 runs in
the first before an out was made. Lieberman hit a single to plate Hite
and make the score 1-0. Carl Upton stepped to the plate and delivered
a bases loaded double down the left field line to score Mims, Pettway
and Lieberman. Tom Corbin then followed with a two run shot over the
left field wall to cap the scoring for the Vikings. Upton pitched a
complete game keeping the Gators off balanced all night. John Morgan
Mims had 2 hits on the night, Upton finished with 2 hits. The Vikings
face Forest Hill on Friday.

Rained out. Working towards makeup dates.

Northwest Rankin - WC hung on in a steady drizzle to beat NWR
Friday night 8-4. Carl Upton picked up the win. Joey Lieberman had a
1B,2B and 4 RBI's. Tom Corbin had a RBI. Jeff Mitchell had a 1B and
a 2B,1 RBI.
2/28-
Natchez
Jeremy Ferguson pitched a 5 inning perfect game as the Vikings won 11-0.
Ferguson struck out only 4 but knocked down a few shots back at him,
the last one ricochetted to Lieberman who threw out Kossum to end the
game. Chris Hite had 2 1B's and scored 2 runs. John Mims had a 1B and
a 2B. Brian Pettway had a 2B. Carl Upton doubled in 2 RBI's. Joey Lieberman
had 2 2B's and had 3 RBI's. Jeff Mitchell doubled.
2/23-
Prattville,Alabama
Brian Pettway pitched a complete game striking out 9 to get his first
win of the season as the Vikings defeat Prattville 2-1. John Morgan
Mims had a 1B,BB,and was hit by a pitch. He scored both runs. Brian
Pettway had a 2B and a 1B. Andrew Simmons had 2 hits and WC improves
to 6-1.
2/23-
Oak Grove
Carl Upton suffered his first loss of his high school career
against the Warriors of Oak Grove. Brain Pettway hit a solo shot in
the 6th.
2/22-
Oxford
WC improves to 5-0 with a 5-2 win over Oxford Friday night.
Chris Hite had 2 hits and scored twice. John Morgan Mims had a 2 run
HR,2 2B's,3 RBI's and scored 3 times. Brian Pettway had a 1B and a 2B.
Carl Upton doubled. Joey Lieberman had 2 hits. Andrew Simmons pitched
a complete game improving to 2-0.
2/21-
Yazoo City
WC improves to 4-0 with a 10-0 win over Yazoo City. WC started off slow,
but put 7 across in the 5th. Brian Pettway hit a solo HR in the 1st.
Carl Upton has a 3B and a 1B and 4 RBI's. Tom Corbin doubled, Daryl
Harper doubled, and Jeff Mitchell had 2 2B's. Jeremy Fergusongot the
win on the mound striking out 7.

- Louisville
Warren Central's bats showed up again as the Vikings beat Louisville
11-0 at Brandon High School. WC put 7 runs across the plate in the 1st.
WC's leading hitters were John Morgan Mims w/ a HR and a 1B,3 RBI's.
Pettway had a 2B. Tom Corbin had a 3 run HR. Ferguson had a 1B AND 2B.
Carl Upton threw a no hitter striking out 11. Upton improved to 1-0.

- Cleveland
WC holds on in the 2nd game to defeat Cleveland 7-5. WC had 6 hits on
the night. Chris Hite had 3 hits and scored 3 times. Joey Lieberman
had a double. Jeff Mitchell also had a double. Brian Pettway started
on the mound, but got a No Decision. Steven McDevitt got the win and
John Morgan Mims got the save.
Feb
16- Brookhaven
Vikings start the season off right with a 23-4 win over Brookhaven.
WC pounded out 16 hits. Brian Pettway and Jeremy Ferguson hit grand
slams and Jeff Mitchell hit a 2 run shot. Chris Hite had a pair of doubles.
Tom Corbin doubled, Ferguson had a double and a single to go along with
his HR, as did Mitchell. Andrew Simmons got the win on the mound.
